Banks are open between 09:30 a.m. to 02:30 p.m. for 365 days in the Kathmandu Valley. In other places banks are open from 10.00am to 2.30pm from Sundays to Fridays. ATM, Credit Card, Debit Card, Master Card, Visa Card machines are available in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Bhairahawa, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, Dharan, Butwal, Hetauda and some other cities.

Eurrency Exchange Counter

Foreign currencies must be exchanged only through the banks or authorized foreign exchange counters. The receipts from such transaction are to be obtained and retained. Visitors can also exchange money (Traveler’s Cheque or Cash) at the foreign exchange counter at the airport upon arrival. Credit Cards like the American Express, Visa and Master Card are accepted with extra charges about 0.75% to 3.5% in each transaction.

Please retain your encashment slip for changing back local currency to foreign currency on departure at the exit points or at Tribhuvan International Airport departure lounge.
